Did I say hops? Your brewer is a hop head! This is a full bodied beer using American grains. The goal was to create a base for showing off the unique floral qualities of two Pacific Northwest hops, Columbus and Cascade. Columbus is a new hybrid High Alpha Acid hop used mostly for bittering, but used heavily as an aromatic in this bold brew. Cascade is the balance that ties the malt and bittering hops together. It is a true specialty ale and is our brewer’s statement on this style.
-From the Bear Republic website.

Racer 5 has a nice, toasted caramel color. My tulip glass held the IPA with about a finger of foam and wafting, pleasant citrus hop aromas. But there’s some malt in the aroma, too, which becomes a bridge to the taste. I was expecting the hops — sticky pine and citrus — but the sweet, caramel malt was the pleasant surprise of the night.

Well, it looks like I've found that one and I love it!

Let me introduce Hop Crisis, the Imperial IPA aged on oak spirals that clocks in at a whopping 9.7% abv. This beer is a hopheads oasis, with hints of sweet peach, pear, and grapefruit from the first sip to the last. It has a wonderful malt backbone that masks the strong alcohol presence. Like a fine wine, this beer is surely a sipper...

...and it comes in a can!

They may be from the same clan, but they have entirely different personalities. Oak aging gives a subtle vanilla character, rounding out Yeti’s intense roastiness and huge hoppy nature. Aged in oak barrels for 20 months, the beer pours pitch black with a frothy brown head and gives off an aroma of caramel, coffee, vanilla, and surprisingly robust hops. The high alcohol content is masked by a smooth woodiness that hints of burnt wood and roasted coffee beans. More hops arrive toward the finish.
